Sprint Grand Prix Comes to The Canyons

Two-time Olympic champion Seth Wescott (Sugarloaf, ME) and silver medalist Lindsey Jacobellis (Stratton Mountain, VT) will be among the athletes vyng for titles as the Spring U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix makes a snowboardcross stop February 11-12, 2011, at The Canyons in Park City.

The Canyons, having undergone significant renovations this summer, including the addition of new trails, a chairlift and repositioning the gondola, is set to host an elite level event. The all-star cast consisting of three snowboardcross Olympic medals, Wescott’s two golf medals and Jacobellis’ silver medal, and five-time X Games champion Nate Holland (Squaw Valley, CA) will come to the resort in full force hoping to be crowned champion.

The two-day event will kick off Friday, February 11, 2011, with the men’s and women’s qualification rounds with the finals held on Saturday, February 12, 2011. Following the head-to-head race, spectators can enjoy a family-friendly live concert at one of the premier entertainment venues in Utah.

The event at The Canyons will fall into the middle of the three-stop Grand Prix tour. The world’s longest-standing snowboarding series opens December 9-11, 2010, with the Visa U.S. Halfpipe Grand Prix in Copper Mountain, CO. It will wrap up in Mammoth Mountain, CA, March 4-6, 2011, with a Sprint U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix halfpipe.

Bret Michaels to Rock Universal’s New Year’s Eve Celebration

Downtown Orlando to Host Veteran’s Parade

The Veteran’s Parade will take place in downtown Orlando on Saturday, November 13, 2010, at 11:30 AM. The parade will start at the corner of Orange Avenue and Livingston Street. Highlights will include street performers, marching bands, floats and live music. Downtown Orlando also will host the Orlando Food & Wine Fest November 13-14, 2010, on Robinson Street. The festival will feature cuisine from 36 Central Florida restaurants and more than 50 domestic and international wines. Advance purchase passes are available for $15 for the weekend and $10 for a single day (children ages 12 and under are admitted free). Tickets also may be purchased at the gate for $15. Night of Joy 2010 at Disney World

Past Christian music “Artists of the Year” Third Day, mercyme and Chris Tomlin and 2010 “Artist of the Year” nominees Casting Crowns and Francesca Battistelli head a star-powered 15-act lineup set for Disney’s Night of Joy 2010 September 10-11 when the long-running Christian music event makes its return to Magic Kingdom.

Also part of the two-night event (when specific acts play one evening each): David Crowder*Band, Family Force 5, Red, BarlowGirl, Group 1 Crew, Day of Fire, Smokie Norful, Lecrae, 10th Avenue North and Sidewalk Prophets.

From 7 PM until 12:30 AM each night – after regular Magic Kingdom hours – the special-ticket event will feature live performances on several stages throughout the park. In addition, guests can experience some of the park’s most popular attractions during Night of Joy hours.

Musically, the acts add up to a lineup that runs the spectrum from rock, hip hop and R&B to pop, adult contemporary and gospel – continuing a tradition that has been a hallmark of Night of Joy since 1983 when the event began.

It’s also a lineup laden with accolades. Ten of the artists have amassed a combined 81 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards and six Recording Academy Grammy Awards. Twelve of the artists are nominated for a total of 33 Dove Awards this award. Winners will be announced April 21, 2010, at Nashville’s famed Grand Ole Opry House.

Five artists are new to Night of Joy, bringing the event’s all-time talent list to 144 Christian music acts. The newbies:
